In the old station of the Central Railroad of the Chubut, located across the street from the bus terminal in Puerto Madryn, the Historical Museum "Juan Meisen Ebene" works. The building itself is history because it has more than 100 years and is well maintained. A stroll through the history of Puerto Madryn and the region may well begin in this museum.
It shows a locomotive on the outside and inside the museum you can see formerly used as scales, bottles, notes, black and white photos that immerse the visitor in Puerto Madryn much smaller and with a quiet reality. Crockery, soda siphons, leaflets, dresses, suits are also some elements that help transported in time.
Used for trade in the region, the city counted from the 1890s until the beginning of 1961 with the Central Chubut Railway, turning the town into a cosmopolitan center with a bright future. The town grew around the railway activities, port, some shops and essential services.
After deactivation of the railway line, the villagers began lifting the railroad for corrals, houses and others. Currently these things are the few vestiges of this railway that existed. This building also served as a bus station for many years, until the construction of the new terminal built in the back street of this historic building, which now covers part of the history of Puerto Madryn.
